Electric Fillet Knives

In the best of circumstances cleaning and preparing fish can be cumbersome, and it’s even worse without the proper utensils. The correct type of knife is necessary to fillet a fish or the process will be time-consuming and messy. Fish fillet knives made specifically for this job are available in a variety of types and sizes to make the task of filleting much more enjoyable.

A number of companies make fillet knives in a few different styles. The slim electric fillet knife has a long thin blade with a fine point. Its rubber handle makes it easier to grip when filleting fish. The standard fillet knife is 7 inches long; a smaller 5-inch blade is used for smaller fish.

Nine-inch blade fillet knives are made by some manufacturers. And electric fillet knives have now emerged on the market, taking the utensil a step forward. You can buy electric fillet knives in sets that come with exchangeable blades, to give users more choices in flexibility and speed.

The sharper the blade, the closer it can come to the bone when slicing off fish meat. The long, thin design of the sharp-tipped fillet knife is perfect for this purpose. This type of knife is also well-suited to cleaning fish. Using the pointed knife tip, a fish can easily and cleanly be cut from the tail up through to the chest.

When an electric fillet knife moves across a fish, it vibrates. Some electric knives are made to indicate when the filleting is finished.

It’s important to thoroughly clean all fish fillet knives and electric knife blades after use, so that they are dry when put into storage. And the blades must be kept sharp to ensure fillets are made with consistent size and thickness. Fillet knives and electric knife blades must be stored in a dry place to prevent rust.
